The Cannes Lions international Advertising Festival is the world's only truly global meeting place for those interested in creativity in communications. More than 9,000 registered delegates from 85 countries attended the Festival in 2007, where they could view nearly 26,000 pieces of work, attend 45 seminars and 20 workshops, catch four awards ceremonies and enjoy two vast beach galas.
The 55th Cannes Lions Festival, taking place 15th - 21st June 2008, is offering ten award sections, including the newly-introduced Design Lions, an extended seminar programme and focused workshops on the subjects of media, production, content and creative.
This year, Mr Rupert Murdoch, Chairman, News Corporation, will be keynote speaking at the Festival. Hamish McLennan, Chief Executive Officer, Young & Rubican, will undertake a discussion with Mr Murdoch about how he has transformed the shape of media and marketing with News Corporation’s extraordinary group of assets.

The Australian Young Lions Competition 2008 is now open. This competition is open to young advertising professionals. It challenges those who are at the start of their careers in the media, advertising and marketing communications industry. The aim is to identify the upcoming young talent from Australia, who may be the Cannes Lions winners of the future.


The Siren Awards honour excellence in commercial radio advertising. The winner, announced May 9, is automatically entered into the Cannes Radio Lions June 2008.
