Making of Vaseline "Sea of Skin"

Making of Vaseline "Sea of Skin"

Documentary detailing the making of Vaseline "Sea of Skin"

Comment:
people are so ignorant... love the add very well done and instructive as in the message the vaseline company tried to express which is great to. skin is awesome give it some respect.

That's kinda sick! Having soo many people coming out from a wooded or forest area just to come out naked for a commercial Vaseline. (We all know that cream works exellent)Those people are going to get full of Bug Bites up in their ASSES! Forest, Humidity, Body Sweet, Bad Body Order. Beeeeeeee-OOOOOoo00!=)

this is video is amazing and beautiful amazing how every single person knows where to go and wat to doits nature's way i guess

This is amazing how they made it and the commercial itself is amazing. Vaseline skin cream went really far with this and it's good they did. They told us how important our skin truely is.

That is a lot of work for a commercial but props to those who were brave enough to be seen practically naked around the world. Tastefully done and interesting.

Sure there is. I think about a boring game of baseball when ol' woodro wants to stand at attention. Yep...Works every time.Anyways, I loved the commercial. We shouldn't be so shameful of the human body. It is what it is, and what's there is there. Vaseline should get some kind of award for such a great commercial.

What an amazing commercial! How creative!I liked the mattress coats the nude extras wore in between shoots in Iceland. I wonder where I can get one of those. They look comfortable and warm.

nakedness, natural but i dont like being naked, im shy of showing my girl body, so i definally wudnt be in this commerical .

What a fitting tribute to a skin lotion commercial. Now let's all bring out that Vaseline skin lotion while watching this again.

very very nice...I liked it ...it is so artistic the way it ws produced....choreographed and everything...pays to the art of nature...we human beings are nature itself...love it! mwuah!!!

hahaha happy naked people. i think i'd be pretty happy if i were in barcelona. aww but i feel so bad for the actors (?) when theyre running around in iceland. =( cool stuff though.

You'd be surprised. Can you name another petroleum jelly manufacturer? They basically have an unofficial monopoly on the product. Though vaseline is small, the demand is huge.

been a vaseline user for years and have seen many crappy commercials of it here in manila..but this one's great!!! got my jaw dropped in amazement! indeed! skin is soooo amazing!! wish i could be in that commercial, it feels so free and amazing!!!

Haha there must be some pervert men that went there to look at women . And their penis will erect right there !

Wow - it must have been an amazing experience to be with so many other naked people- with such positive energy (and in a safe environment)! - probably very grounding[-this is great!

Great, extremely interesting!!!

Android or Humanoid Robots

Androids
Android or Humanoid Robots are the kind of robots that most people associate with the term "robot". They are biped walking robots, which resemble more or less a human body structure. Unlike 6-legged robots, biped robots have to maintain balance during walking, which can be a major task depending on their weight distribution and foot size relative to the rest of the body. For details see the book "Embedded Robotics".
The mechanics and sensor electronics has been individually constructed around the EyeBot controller. All robots are about 50cm tall and use different sensors for attitude control and balance.

The Andy Droid robots have been designed by Joker Robotics, however, we have modified Andy1's feet with three toes containing strain gauges as the robot's main orientation sensors. With these, Andy can always determine the center of pressure in each foot and therefore knows its "zero moment point" (ZMP), which allows it to counteract any rotational forces for balancing. Andy2 has an almost identical leg design. Andy2 uses a new digital servo development instead of Andy1's conventional analog servos. These digital servos give feedback via a serial interface and can therefore double as actuators and sensors.
Andy Droid (by Joker Robotics, EyeBot, 13 servos, 5 per leg, 1 per arm [not shown], 1 for head [not shown], 3 strain gauges per foot, 2001)
Andy Droid 2 (by Joker Robotics, EyeBot, 17 digital servos, 5 per leg, 3 per arm, 1 for head, digital servo feedback, 2005)
Rock Steady
With Rock Steady we tried a completely different approach to our first robots Johnny and Jack (see below). This robot should use a minimal number of motors: one motor per leg, plus one motor for sideways balancing of a counterweight. A sophisticated mechanical structure translates the rotaty motion of each leg motor into an articulated leg motion. Instead of servos, we used precision DC motors with encoders for this robot. Inclinometers in two axes are used as orientation sensors for the robot, each motor has an incremental encoder plus an external zero position optical switch.

Johnny Walker
Jack Daniels
Johnny and Jack were the first two android robots we designed using relatively inexpensive servos as actuators and testing a variety of different sensors. A major problem with these robots are the total weight of the mechanics, electronics, motors and batteries, and the rather limited torque being supplied by the motors. Any biped robot that has difficulties balancing on one leg, will have difficulties to perform a proper walk.
Another major problem is repeatability of a motion. The robots' metal frame structure is quite flexible and tends to swing. Also, the inexpensive servos used have a considerable play and are not capable of an accurate motion repeat. Furthermore, servo performance significantly decreases with ageing of the servos.

The Android By Johnnie Walker

The Android English Version

Johnnie Walker Android ad from martinez2006 and Vimeo.

Behind The Scene The Android

Johnnie Walker’s latest television commercial comes from the future through the perspective of an android. The 60 second Scotch whisky TV advertisement, “Human”, provides an ambience consistent with that of Isaac Asimov’s story Bicentennial Man, directed as a film by Steven Spielberg, and Stanley Kubrick’s A.I.

An android (played by Aaron Cash) sits in a library of the future saying, “I am faster than you, stronger than you. Certainly I will last much longer than you. You may think that I am the future. But you’re wrong. You are. If I had a wish, I wish to be human”.

Outside now, the android turns in the sunlight. “To know how it feels to feel”. The android grabs a butterfly in his hand, then releases it.
Back in the library the butterfly provides a point of continuity for the soliloquy. “To hope, to despair, to wonder, to love. I can achieve immortality by not wearing out. You can achieve immortality simply by doing one great thing.

The Johnnie Walker Human ad was developed at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, London, by chairman and worldwide creative director John Hegarty, copywriter and art director Justin Moore and Steve Robertson, with producer Kristin Armstrong.

Filming was directed by Dante Ariola, with MJZ, with producer Debbie Turner. Editing was done by Andrea McArthur at Peepshow, London.

Post production was done at The Mill, London, with producer Helen Hughes, Lead Flame Chris Knight, Lead 3D producer Gil James, Lead 3D Supervisor Russell Tickner. Flame artists were Richard Roberts, Coory Brown, Dave Birkhill. Flame Assists were Mark Payne, Stirling Archibald and Sheldon Gardener. 3D artists were Christ Rabbet, Eva Kuehlmann, Daniel Hope and Vincent Baartsoen. The Mill’s new podcast channel includes a video showing behind-the-scenes development of the visual effects.

Original music was composed by Peter Challis, Marc Teitler and Bernd Würtz at A-Bomb, London.

Johnnie Walker making of 'Human' TV ad

Really cool ad featuring the musings of a highl... (more)
Added: October 19, 2006
Really cool ad featuring the musings of a highly intelligent android who wants to have human beings' innate drive and creativity that cannot be manufactured. It's an antidote to the prevailing idea that the future will be dominated by technology and run by machines. This film uses the Johnnie Walker idea of 'Keep Walking' as an opportunity to celebrate human potential. With such a thought-provoking creative idea, it really challenges the viewer. Could it even be considered one of the most intelligent ads ever made?
