You've got twice as much Hotshot this week as Quad Productions' Reynald Gresset lets loose a barrage of new work for French hyper-market Auchan through CLM BBDO.
Playing with genre stereotypes, Gresset has helmed two of spots that toy with the conventions of cops 'n' robbers chase sequences, zombie horror flicks and groupies gone wild. In Bank Robber, a guy hightails it through a city, desperately trying to evade capture by the police as money goes flying and astonished onlookers gawp at the unfolding scene with astonishment.
And For Rockstar, Gresset has a guitarist running from a gig past a crowd of confused fans as hoards of lovestruck female admirers chase him though streets and back alleys. In each of the spots the chase comes to an abrupt halt as the lead character is confronted with the unseen surprise of?
The spots were shot concurrently during an epic shoot in Argentina. "I'd shot there before," Gresset explains, "so when it came to this project the versatility of the location suited the three scripts perfectly."The main challenge, aside from simultaneously co-ordinating numerous shots for the separate spots, was ensuring enough of the genre references were included to carry the storylines and really set the tone. "A lot of the time I was thinking about how to find that happy medium between these cinematic situations and the tongue-in-cheek comical dimension, particularly with the Bank Robber and Rockstar pieces."And to view our favourite, Bank Robber, click here.Auchan: Bank Robber
