A farewell request from Perez and a farewell thanks from the fifth grade PS22 Chorus of 2009 to the man who was the driving force behind putting the kids on the map. After posting 5 of their videos this school year alone, Perez Hilton has brought millions of viewers, both directly and indirectly, into the world of the PS22 Chorus. Big thanks for believing in these kids, and for raising awareness to the importance of music and the arts in education. Indebted.




So when I found out he wanted a Lady Gaga song, I was a little petrified! I honestly didn't know if we could pull something like that off. But the kids were asking for Lady Gaga themselves, so I put it on them to rewrite some of the lyrics to "Just Dance" to make it something that would be okay for school. And with just a little lyrical tweaking on their part, they totally recreated this song. I dare say ithey completely ROCK IT!!! Along with the two Tori Amos (Flavor and Gold Dust) and Bjork (One Day, Joga) songs we did this year, this might be my favorite cover out of this year's group. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! And as you see the kids do too!

Tirzah sounds absolutely amazing on the leads, and makes you remember why she won the PS22 American Idol 3 last year when she was in 4th grade with the Leona Lewis song, Bleeding Love (check it out if you haven't seen it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZbuDB... )

And Mariah does an awesome rap and adds her incredible charm and personality to the video all around!

IBM Centennial Film: 100 X 100 - A century of achievements that have cha...



"100x100": a really nice video celebrating IBM's centennial.
The film features one hundred people, who each present the IBM achievement recorded in the year they were born. The film chronology flows from the oldest person to the youngest, offering a whirlwind history of the company and culminating with its prospects for the future.

Very cool - my dad retired as an IBM Quarter Century Clubber. Scrap paper in our house was stacks of punch cards...I was that kid that didn't get an Atari, we got a PC - though not an IBM since they were not making them at the time. Big Blue played a big part in my life as a kid growing up in the 80s.

Verizon iPhone



Verizon has just launched its first commercial spot for the long-awaited Verizon iPhone on YouTube.

The 30-second spot teases customers for the February 10 launch of the iPhone 4 on Verizon. It features lots of ticking clocks, dramatic music and people waiting in anticipation for the day the iPhone makes its way to largest carrier in the U.S.

There is only one line in the entire commercial:

“To our millions of customers who never stopped believing this day would come… thank you.”

Let the Verizon iPhone countdown begin.


*Apple is putting proprietary pentalobe screws on some of their products! It's stupid and I hope they don't start putting it on all their products. Right now it is on some i-phone 4 phones, the Macbook Air, and 2009 Macbook Pro.

Do you like being locked out of the hardware you buy?? Think about the frustration if you need to upgrade your RAM, battery or hard drive and your locked out!

Write, email or call Apple to ask them to go back to the Phillips screw!

*Some people want to upgrade their internal hard drive due to increased speed from getting a faster mechanical drive, or a Solid State Drive.

I know that the Iphone, Macbook Air and the 2009 Macbook Pro has these proprietary screws.

And YES they are proprietary. They aren' t the standard kind. Do some research, every article about this says that they are not generic Pentalobe screws.

We shouldn't encourage this behavior from Apple. We have the right to easy access to the stuff we own

Sarofsky Corp.'s main title sequence for the new Showtime Original Series SHAMELESS is an irreverent and illuminating portrait of the Gallagher family where private moments are exposed in the most unexpected place: the bathroom. The main title sequence, which premiered Sunday night, was inspired by the unapologetic tone of the show and its central characters. View it here.

In SHAMELESS, Frank Gallagher is the proud single dad of six smart, spirited and independent kids, who without him would be... perhaps, better off. The brilliant William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum star in this wildly engaging and fearlessly twisted new Showtime Original Series.

Erin Sarofsky, who directed the SHAMELESS main title, worked with the series creatives and cast to produce an authentic, completely original introduction to the show. The action was scripted as an intricate dance of illicit and personal behavior, which came to life on set by the charismatic cast.

"It was rewarding to work with everyone at John Wells Productions and Showtime, as well as the amazing cast from SHAMELESS," comments Erin Sarofsky. "Our concept focused squarely on the actions and personalities within the family. While on set, we wanted to capture everything from our complex choreography to the quirky and serendipitous tendencies innate to the characters. The actors took our direction to a new and exciting level, infusing each moment with both exceptional subtlety and electricity."

Shooting on the RED ONE camera, Sarofsky chose to compose the scene at a lower perspective, which mostly obscures the actors' faces and turns the viewer into a voyeur. The result is captivating and pleasingly uncomfortable. "The Luck You Got," by indie rock band The High Strung, is the pitch perfect music track with crunching guitars and lyrics that evoke scrappy survival in the face of adversity.

Sarofsky Corp. provides creative storytelling, high-end concepting, and direction for entertainment and advertising-driven projects. The SHAMELESS main title highlights their strength as a live action production company, with type treatment and design playing a supporting role. Geico Gecko Gets Radio Show (Blue Car)



Geico, with help from The Martin Agency, is out with two new commercial which feature the Gecko character front and center. In the first, the first, the Gecko attempts to answer a serious question from a girl while a second announcer who looks like he's still in high school tells the girl she'd look great in a blue car.

In a second commercial, the Gecko takes a look at how fast people can get a quote on Geico.com while the high school-er checks the records book to see who got the quickest quote.

As Geico commercials go, they're fairly standard. Not that we don't like Mr. Gecko but we wish the brand would bring back the Kash character. Now that character was quirky and fun. And the song was infectious.

Amazing Fire Animation!



All I can say is ..this took over 2 weeks to do. A lot of fire, A lot of smoke, a lot of heat, and a whole lot of frustration.

Some may not consider this an illusion.

Heres the definition of illusion:

something that deceives by producing a false or misleading impression of reality.

The idea for this started when I was editing the behind the scenes footage for the Fire Illusion video. I sped up the footage of me blowing out the candles and it looked really cool to see the candles going from being lit to unlit so quickly ..and it hit me that the candles could be used as pixels.

I spent a couple of weeks thinking about how involved it would be to do. My initial goal was to animate classic videos games, such as tetris, pong, pac-man and mario bros. After testing I realized mario bro's would be too hard and I gave up. I stuck with tetris, pong and pac-man but since those didnt take up much time I decided to include a few random shapes. The initial goal was to light each candle individually and blow it out according to the required movements of each shape. I soon realized that it was just not going to be practical. The main problem was keeping the flame consistent on the candles. Some candles would burn perfectly. Others would burn out quickly. I decided to take a different approach. I took a picture of all the candles unlit ..and then lit all the candles ..and took a picture of that. I know that some people will consider that "cheating" and I understand. But I just wanted to give the over all effect and to me it's still an enjoyable video to watch.

I did all of the editing in photoshop. The animation of each shape and the 3 games took almost 2 weeks of work. I definitely was at the point of wanting to give up at several points. But kept coming back ...until finally completing it.

I got frustrated with NASA and made this video. NASA is the most fascinating, adventurous, epic institution ever devised by human beings, and their media sucks. Seriously. None of their brilliant scientists appear to know how to connect with the social media crowd, which is now more important than ever. In fact, NASA is an institution whose funding directly depends on how the public views them.

In NASA's defense, they have embraced social media. I guess my point is that they don't fully understand how to best use it. In all of their brilliance, NASA seems to have forgotten to share their hopes and dreams in a way the public can relate to, leaving one of humanity's grandest projects with terrible PR and massive funding cuts.

Spanair -Unexpected luggage



On December 24th our flight from Barcelona to Las Palmas arrived close to midnight. 190 people were flying while everyone else celebrated Christmas Eve.
Christmas is a very special moment so we decided to do something special for them, too.

Custom built adidas fixie for our adidas x Forces of Nice art show collaboration in Hong Kong.
The custom paint and illustration on the bike was done all by hand and took over 2 weeks to finish.
The bike was generously donated by singlebikes.com while the front aerospoke wheel was purchased
from Super Champion in Vancouver.

The bike was painted with Montana Gold spray paint and illustrated with various Sharpie Poster-Paint markers.
In the final process it was triple coated with both Krylon acrylic crystal clear lacquer and Montana Gold T1000
Clear Lacquer glossy to protect the paint job.

Fans of musical dramas may experience some deja vu while watching "Cadillac Records"; the story is remarkably similar to one told in the middle of 2006's "Dreamgirls," in a montage set to "Steppin' to the Bad Side." There's the plucky upstart studio where African-American musicians are pioneering new kinds of music. There's the driven record-label owner who's dispensing payola to deejays, trying to buy his way past institutionalized racism and cross over from the R&B ghetto to the white-dominated pop charts. There's the white group that steals a black musician's song and turns it into a hit single. There are lots of flashy new cars as symbols of success.

And above all, there's the music, the motivator and the moneymaker, the one thing that heals all wounds—or at least in the case of the blues, expresses them.

In "Dreamgirls," the sequence is a flashy, fictionalized amalgam of events from the Motown era. In "Cadillac Records," it's straight-up history. The film may also induce deja vu in longtime Chicago residents, because there's a chance they lived through these stories, when South Side brothers Leonard and Phil Chess relaunched Aristocrat as Chess Records and started releasing albums by the likes of Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry and many more. "Cadillac Records" shrugs off Phil Chess and the label's early years in order to focus on Leonard, on some of the label's biggest personalities and on the music they made.

The story starts in Chicago in the 1940s, with Chess ( Adrien Brody) as a young Polish immigrant promising his girlfriend's father that he'll transcend his poor origins: "Don't worry where I'm from, my wife's gonna drive a Cadillac." That's the closest the film comes to explaining Chess' obsession with the cars, which he later dispenses to his successful recording artists like badges of honor. When Chess takes up with Muddy Waters (played with growling charisma by Jeffrey Wright, also recently seen as Colin Powell in "W." and James Bond's CIA buddy in "Quantum of Solace"), his label takes off, and he rapidly brings in talents such as Little Walter (Columbus Short), Berry ( Mos Def), Howlin' Wolf (Eamonn Walker), and Etta James (executive producer Beyonce Knowles). But as the business comes together, his stars fall apart, sunk in various vices and deep-seated emotional issues. It's almost as though singing the blues isn't a cheery calling.

Those vices provide a bunch of riveting stories, including Berry's arrest under the Mann Act and Little Walter's public alcoholic meltdown. But they're presented as a series of disjointed anecdotes, bookended by overripe narration from Cedric The Entertainer as Willie Dixon. Writer-director Darnell Martin leaves a lot of key issues dangling, particularly about Chess' motives, and whether, as Waters repeatedly claims, he's cheating his artists. Oscar-winner Brody ("The Pianist") plays Chess as a guarded man who makes for a frail lead. He's a shadowy background figure uncomfortably placed at center stage.

Fortunately, that stage is crowded with broader, more intense characters who keep the energy level high. In particular, Mos Def makes a terrific Berry, all flash and confidence, and Wright offers a memorably soulful take on Waters, whether he's strutting, singing, suffering or all three. Walker's Howlin' Wolf is a deep-throated, pride-filled bear of a man who dominates the screen.

Between them, they offer portraits that sometimes veer toward caricature, but that fill out the film almost as well as its rich soundtrack.

"Cadillac Records" could use more music and less mugging—Knowles' take on James in particular is only convincing when she's singing, which is fitting from a woman whose acting skills come in a distant second to her voice. But after every misstep, the film finds its feet again during the exhilarating, sweaty Chess studio sessions, where the film's cast covers songs from rock 'n' roll to electric blues to soul, from Waters' "I Can't Be Satisfied" to James' "At Last." Just as in real life, no matter what else is going on in these musicians' lives, the music temporarily makes everything much better.

Real life super hero stops crime

LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- A local man said he came within seconds of having his car broken into, and perhaps stolen, until a real-life "superhero" came to his aid, wearing tights, a mask and a skin-tight super suit.

The encounter started in Lynnwood Sunday evening when a man, who asked to be identified only as Dan, was walking back to his car in a parking lot when he saw a man with a metal strip trying to pry open his car.

"He started sticking it down between the window and the rubber strip," said Dan.

Dan began to call 911, but said help arrived before he even finished dialing.

"From the right, this guy comes dashing in, wearing this skin-tight rubber, black and gold suit, and starts chasing him away," said Dan.

What Dan didn't know is that just about every night, an anonymous Seattle man strolls into a comic store, enters a hidden back room and emerges transformed.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Monique Ming Laven met him.

"My name is Phoenix Jones," said the man.

The man is the hero Dan's been trying to tell his friends about.

"People are saying, 'No way, dude, you were probably drunk,'" said Dan.

But the superhero sounded familiar to Ming Laven. She had heard about how he and the other eight members of his Rain City Superhero crime fighting movement walk the street, eyes out for crime and prepared to fight it.

On Monday night, the fully-clad superhero and Dan met.

"That's crazy. Nice to meet you, brother. Nice to meet you. That's insane," said Dan, who finally got a close-up look at his savior.

"Phoenix" explained his whole super suit, including bullet-proof vest and stab plates, to Dan.

"That's a Taser night stick. And I have Mace slash tear gas over here," said Phoenix.

Then it was time for Phoenix to get back out on the streets, maybe not quite a super man, but an extraordinary one.

"So when I walk into a neighborhood, criminals leave because they see the suit," said Phoenix. "I symbolize that the average person doesn't have to walk around and see bad things and do nothing."

Phoenix said since he started his crime-fighting crusade nine months ago, he's been stabbed, and had a gun pulled on him a few times, but received no serious injuries.

Unfortunately, he didn't catch up with the man who was breaking into Dan's car.
